PILOT – SECOND FLIGHT
Price: £5 + £4.49 shipping
Label: EMI – EMC 3075
Format: Vinyl
Country: UK
Released: 1975
Condition:
Media: VG
Sleeve: VG+
I bought this one from a car boot to satisfy my nostalgic urges. January was the big hit from this LP. This one was part of the soundtrack to my childhood. Fortunately it was in a pretty decent condition, at least for a car boot. There are a few audio imperfections but the record plays fine, generally. Includes picture inner. Drummer Stuart Tosh went on to play with 10cc, appearing on the Live and Let Live LP. Watching Pilot on TOTP, I never realised that lead singer, David Paton is only 3’ 2” in height. You live and learn.

ROY WOOD – BOULDERS
Price: £8 + £4.49 shipping
Label: United Artists – UA-LA168-F
Format: Vinyl
Country: USA
Released: 1973
Condition:
Media: NM
Sleeve: VG+
I actually bought this one from Discogs. A US pressing, I was in my ‘Buy everything ever associated with ELO’ phase. The cut corner ‘remainder indicator’ was disappointing (and I’m surprised that Discogs still sees the sleeve as VG+ but hey…), minor sleeve shelf wear expected but every LP on offer that day on Discogs was in the same ‘remainder’ condition. Plays perfectly. Includes The Inner Sleeve – yes, it’s a title too. A sort of newsletter on an inner.
A quirky artist is Wood. Incredible song-writing highs surrounded by ho-hum lows. I found the track Miss Clarke And The Computer, surprisingly upsetting but I’ve always been a sensitive soul, I guess.
Always interesting, though. A very talented, very hairy man.

ANITA O’DAY – TRAV’LIN’ LIGHT
Price: £8 + £4.49 shipping
Label: Verve – 2304 584
Format: Vinyl
Country: France
Released: 1983
Condition:
Media: NM
Sleeve: VG+
A French reissue of the 1961 original from jazz vocalist, O’Day. Plays perfectly. I bought this one from a friend, jazz fan and record fair chum. Sleeve is excellent except for slight ring wear. Original poly-lined inner included but not used. An excellent tribute to Billie Holiday. More so because it avoids Holiday’s delivery style and I’m not a fan of that.

BING CROSBY – AMONG MY SOUVENIRS
Price: £4 + £4.49 shipping
Label: Ace go Hearts – AH 90
Format: Vinyl
Country: UK
Released: 1965
Condition:
Media: VG
Sleeve: VG+
Ace of Hearts was set up by Decca in 1961 as a reissue outlet. The tracks on this Crosby set were all Decca originals and include a few duets. The sleeve is in good condition, the record is decent with no scratches but does have a light Rice Krispie smattering indicating some wear. I think this was a Record Fair pickup.

BADER MOTOR – DREIDREIDREI
Label: Les Disques En Rotin Réunis – LDRR#056/Veals & Geeks records – VAG 017
Price: £15 + £4.49 shipping
Format: Vinyl
Country: France
Released: 2016
Condition:
Media: NM
Sleeve: NM
Limited to just 300 copies, this one has a combination of Krautrock feel to it. Driving motorik rhythms. Also electronic synth experiments.

SERGE GAINSBOURG – ROCK AROUND THE BUNKER
Label: Mercury/Universal – 530 854 9
Price: £25 + £4.49 shipping
Format: Vinyl
Country: France
Released: 2008
Condition:
Media: NM
Sleeve: NM
This particular edition appears to be a rarer example of the Bunker reissue program. Serge Gainsbourg’s highly satirical Rock Around the Bunker, reflected his time in occupied France as a child. Released in 1975, this psuedo-lounge, bubble-gum 50s pop outing was – rather intriguingly – infused with the cream of UK session men. People like Alan Hawkshaw, Alan Parker and Jim Lawless. Even Clare ‘Pink Floyd’ Torry was involved. I received this as an import from a UK distributor, the sticker contact information remains on the rear sleeve.
