UK audiophile HiFi outfit, Exposure announce new, high-end CD player, the 3510
I recently covered Exposure’s debut turntable announcement which turned out to be a Rega P6. I had thoughts on that one which you can see here and I asked at that time, what was the “bloody point” of that turntable?
This new CD player is more like it. This is what I expect from the company. This shows what the outfit can do in design terms. This is what I expect to see from an Exposure component: an in-house designed product, not someone else’s.

So what is the 3510 CD player?
It can be a standalone CD player or as a CD transport, which is a great option.

What also puts a big smile on my face is the bespoke top-loading mechanism with sliding lid and magnetic clamp. To me this screams low vibration which bodes well for sound quality.
Inside is a dual mono PCM1704 24-bit DAC (interesting choice), fully discrete audio output circuitry plus a large toroidal power transformer.

This toroidal has separate windings for the CD transport mechanism and audio stages. Again? Nice.
That is allied to a dedicated power supply regulator for the transport and audio stages, the idea being to lower jitter.

The whole thing is wrapped in an aluminium chassis, the front panel is extruded, the front display can be turned off which lowers vibration and you get a remote.
This new CD player? This is the bloody point. This? To me? This is Exposure. What a contrast.

Out now, available in either black or Titanium, the price is £2,500. I’ve put my name down for a review although might be a while until I get one because I think this one will be a popular review request.
Besides, it might take a while for the company to stop hating me.

Paul, when you do a review could you please explain in what way turning off the display affects vibration?
I will and I’m not confident that there will be a difference, during testing. Well, if past experience is any gauge. Even so, I’ll keep an open mind 🙂
