PLATINA INTEGRATED: FROM QUAD
27th October 2025

It’s taken the company five years but Quad has now released a new integrated amplifier. The sky is black with elevated chapeau
Contained in a steel chassis with aluminium frontage, the Platina – being the company’s new flagship range – pushes out 200W into 8 Ohms, backed by a low-noise, dual-mono circuit topology featuring many custom components plus a large toroidal power supply.

Around the back are six digital inputs hooked up to an ESS ES9038PRO DAC chip. That supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512 including connected USB-C and HDMI ARC ports plus four analogue inputs including balanced XLR. There’s evidence of a built-in phono amp for vinyl fans handling MM and MC with adjustable gain 46dB, 52dB and 60dB.

A built-in headphone amp sports a 6.35mm socket. On the front is a 4.3in IPS LCD colour display.

A second Series Platina component, the Platina Stream network player, begins shipping at the same time as the Platina Integrated (more details to follow soon). A matching CD transport will follow in early spring 2026.

Available from November, price for the amplifier is £3,499.

First ever integrated? What about the Quad 77 back in the ’90s? (I had one, a lovely little beast) And the recently announced Quad 3, which pips the Platina to the post?
My fault… I misread the press release! You see? This is how wars are started. I’ll change it.
