REVOX & NAC NEWS TRIGGERS QUESTIONS
6th October 2025

Audio cassette production is due to begin at the Revox Manufacture plant in Villingen, Germany

US-based National Audio Company and the Swiss audio company Revox has got together to produce “high-quality” cassette tapes. Both for the music industry and blanks for enthusiasts.

To that end, a production line for cassette tape by National Audio is being installed at the Revox Manufacture in Villingen, Germany. Which now means that, reportedly, Revox becomes market-leader for both blank cassettes as well as music cassettes and operates one of the largest cassette production plants in Europe.

Released under the Revox brand, there will be three different cassette tape qualities on offer, including Type II Version (Chrome compatible). The entire range has yet to be announced. Expect to see the first fruits of this new production run later this year.
The question from this news item is this though: what will be the quality of the NAC tape? The company doesn’t have the best reputation in terms of stock. At least from enthusiasts. Also, from my knowledge, Revox has never produced cassette tape. Lots of questions are triggered by this item.
Even so, speaking as someone who actually owns a Studer cassette deck? I’m intrigued. Cautious but intrigued.
