ESL 2812X AND ESL 2912X FROM QUAD

The sixth generation of the original full-range electrostatic speaker: the new QUAD ESL 2812X and ESL 2912X replaces the older 2812 and 2912 models

So what’s changed? Well the electrostatic panel performance itself has been enhanced by refinements to the production process. The operational electronics have also been revised from a single PCB into three separate, fully optimised modules.

Also, custom-designed, UK-built audio transformers apparently increase sound quality.

Quad is also using a new – so-called – ‘stealth’ aesthetic with low-reflectivity matt black finish and LED Halo.

Available to buy from mid-August 2025, prices are: £10,999 per pair for the ESL 2812X, and £12,999 per pair for the ESL 2912X.
