VERTERE SUPER GROOVE II PTA

Vertere has a new, high-end, tonearm out and about called the Super Groove II PTA

PTA stands for Precision Tone Arm. Not Parents Teachers Association. They can’t afford this arm on their pay.

And out now? Well, actually, not quite. It will be out in July 2024.

The Vertere Super Groove Precision Tonearm includes roll-wrapped carbon-fibre, stainless steel, aluminium alloys, brass and silicon nitride.

Compared to earlier models? You get a new Titanium headshell, heavier decoupled dual-axis stainless steel counterweight with adjustable outriders for azimuth adjustment.

Stainless steel central pillar and bearing holder. VTA adjustment collar, new bearing yoke. Improved armrest with arm lock for transit and, as they say, more.

The main point of this thing is that it is a tri-pivot arm. Unipviots are imprecise things because there is no such thing as a bearing point, there is always micro wobble on that bearing tip, it slides around something chronic.

This tri-pivot features three silicon nitride balls and a tungsten carbide point to provide the arm’s support. The arm behaves as a uni-pivot but without the wobble.  

Price? The SG-II-PTA HB will sell for £13,500, €16,998, and $16,995.
