Originally formed in Burton-upon-Trent, England, in 1986 by singer/guitarist Stephen Lawrie, guitarist/singer Jo Doran, lead guitarist David Fitzgerald, bassist Robert Brookes and drummer Dominic Dillon. An influential experimental, drone, noise, dream and psych band.
Of late, The Telescopes signed with Hamburg’s Tapete Records. The Telescopes new and eighth LP is scheduled for release in August of 2015. Recorded in Glasgow, the album is an unexpected return from the group’s recent expeditions into the outer reaches of free-drone noise. This is their most song based output for some time.
