SEGNO MAYA MC CARTRIDGE

The Segno Maya is a new moving coil cartridge featuring silver coils within and mounted on a square permalloy former

This assembly is suspended in a field produced by a Samarium Cobalt magnet which apparently does sound different from those designs that use the more common Neodymium type magnets.

The latter produces stronger fields but the way the magnets replenish their field after inducing a signal in a coil, that’s where the sound differences lie, stated the company. 

A fine line profile diamond is mounted into a Titanium cantilever. Titanium is reportedly very stiff with low resonant characteristics, especially when compared to Aluminium and Boron.

Covering that lot is an aluminium body, anodised to a dark blue colour.

After that lot, you be expecting a price of mega bucks wouldn’t you? £5k perhaps? £7k. More? Well no, actually. It’s not cheap, sure, but at £995.95 it might prove to be an intriguing choice for dedicated vinyl fans out there.
