Polk Signature Series: Dynamic Balance Technology Driver Design

This new speaker system includes Dynamic Balance technology, a patented technology that analyses the speaker’s electro-acoustic and mechanical system for, “…improved material selection and more efficient geometry.” It apparently pinpoints and eliminates issues that reduce speaker performance before they become a part of the finished product

The new design includes a Terylene dome tweeter that features curvilinear formers that, “…extend response and lower resonance,” said the company. This includes a ceramic motor structure. The mica-reinforced polypropylene cones with butyl rubber surrounds, four-layer voice coils, large ceramic motor structures and high-temperature Conex fibre spiders sit underneath the tweeter.

Meanwhile, the Power Port is another patented design that , “…extends the overall bass port, providing greater surface area to eliminate turbulence and distortion…” said the company.

The four-driver (S60, S35), three-driver (S55, S50, S30) and two-driver (S20, S15, S10) includes the new cascading tapered crossover array too.

Other features include a new anti-diffraction magnetic grille and a promise that this series works even with the most modestly-powered amplifier or receiver. Typical sensitivities are around 88db-90db.

The S60, S55, and S50 tower speakers feature dual gold plated 5-way binding posts while all speakers are constructed from non-resonant all-MDF construction, with minimum 19mm-thick baffles with timbre-matched designs. All speakers are designed in California, engineered in Baltimore and manufactured, “…under the strictest quality controls,” said the company.
