HP-1 HEADPHONES FROM KALI AUDIO

11th August 2025

Kali Audio has announced the HP-1, an over-ear, DSP-powered headphones aimed mainly at studio use, almost a business accessory

…but, of course, that doesn’t mean HiFi fans can’t join in. The HP-1 design has been voiced to be as neutral and accurate as possible, says the company. Actually, it looks like there are three listening modes for this one: Studio (“transparent and accurate”); Bass-Heavy (aimed at DJs mixing electronica) and the so-called Consumer mode that, “… replicates the sound of popular headphones sold alongside phones and computers.”

Whatever that means. Not very good maybe? But useful if you are mixing music for a specific target audience and market, I reckon. So see the voicing choices as business aids, if you like.

You can switch between the three voicings at the press of a button. The LED on the right earcup will change color to indicate the selected tuning and a voice prompt will also let you know exactly what you’re  listening to.

A wired connection is available via a 3.5mm jack and a cable for the same is included. Active noise cancelling, wireless phone calling and physical playback controls on the headphones are all featured. Reportedly, battery supports at least 40 hours of playback on a full charge. The headphones can be recharged using the included USB-C cable. The headphones ship in a zippered carrying case.
