Hi The issue of the mat tilting would happen if excessively heavy tracking weights were employed. A way to stop this would be something like the Molekula. I think what Goldmark are trying to do by having a raised portion is to decouple the record from the platter, which makes sense and using the Molekula would take care of any vibrationalmodes which may occur.
Hi Mike – the tilting occurs because the raised label acts like a pivot not because of tracking weight issues (did you see all the B-Roll?). And adding a Molekula would further change the sonic characteristics of the sound. It’s basically a clamp and that should *only* be used if the turntable requires it and most do not – bearing issues, etc (and if it doesn’t, it will restrict air and space in the mids, etc). Thus, you would be trying to fix a problem with a tool that has been created to solve a completely different problem, resulting in twice the issues 🙂
