Hello, I have read some of your reviews and appreciate your great information. I am on your website and see the Bowers & Wilkins speakers, and listened to an interview with a B&W representative on the 600 series speakers. Have you listened to the 606 and 607 S2 speakers? I listened to your review of the MartinLogan Motion 15i speakers and am trying to decide between these and the B&W 607. Any advice? Thanks very much!
Hi Philip – I haven’t done a formal test of the B&Ws. I have undertaken extended listening but only at shows in B&W’s own room. Granted, I managed to hear them in a pretty empty (empty of people, that is) room because I was interviewing the company at the time but, even so, hotel rooms are not the best places for judgement. So, bearing all of that in mind then…I think the B&Ws are fine designs and understand why many people love them. I personally prefer the 15i speakers because I find them more balanced and neutral, the B&Ws have a very lively treble which is a tad too lively for my ears (although others will disagree, I know). I’d recommend a demo, if possible. Try and grab a home demo from a dealer. Because of recent events, home demos are becoming more acceptable and numerous.
Thank you, very helpful. I have read several reviews of the B&W speakers that agree with your assessment. I am putting the speakers in a small room (11 x 14 feet) so don’t need large speakers. Our local Best Buy do have the MartinLogan Motion 15i, so I will go there to listen. Any other favorite bookshelves at $1000 or less?
Well, you might want to wait a little while, Philip. I hope to be reviewing a pair of Q Acoustic Concepts very soon which I think retails for around £800 or so.
OK great, looking forward to it.
