DIAMOND 12i SERIES FROM WHARFEDALE

In operation since 1982, Wharfedale’s Diamond speakers are about to reach the 12i standard, a new design refresh

The new Diamond 12i Series comprises five stereo models: three standmount speakers and two floorstanders. Home cinema applications are catered for by a matching centre speaker and an effects speaker.

The Diamond 12i Series replaces all four of the older finishes with three new ones: Deep Black, Stone Grey and Classic Walnut.

In performance terms, the Wharfedale team focused on bass port tuning and airflow control. Hence, there is a new bass-reflex port design and revised internal damping. In broader terms, the Diamond 12i speakers’ bass and midrange drivers incorporate diaphragms made from a composite of polypropylene and mica that Wharfedale calls Klarity. 

High frequencies are produced by a 25mm woven polyester dome with a high-loss damping coating. The cabinet walls are made from five sections of wood fibre board of varying thickness, constructed with internal bracing to subdue cabinet resonance.
