X2 Turntable From Pro-Ject With 2M Silver Cartridge
5th July 2019
Moving onwards from the 2 Xperience SB turntable, the new X2 houses a DC/AC generator board combined with a speed control board to support 33, 45 and 78rpm speeds
Structurally the X2 is supported by a relatively large plinth. Apparently Pro-Ject has gone out of its way to added mass to this part.
“By adding this extra mass, the X2 is even quieter than previous versions,” said the company.
“The motor is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision tuned TPE belt, said the company.
In the X2, the motor drives a new heavy, Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system.
You’ll also find a Carbon/Alu sandwich construction 9” one-piece tonearm with a relatively wide tube.
With access to azimuth and VTA settings, the tonearm is then supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight.
Supplied as standard with the Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge (or optionally supplied without a cartridge), it also comes with Connect-IT E RCA cables.
The turntable is then positioned on three height-adjustable, decoupling Alu/TPE sandwich feet. An acrylic dust cover is also included.
The X2 is available in walnut wood veneer, black 8-layer high gloss paint or black or white eight-layer hand-polished satin paint. Price is £999 or £899 without the cartridge.
Spanning 460 x 150 x 340mm, the turntable weighs in at 10kg.
