X1 Belt-Drive Turntable From Pro-Ject
5th July 2019
The X1 moves onwards from the 1 Xpression Carbon and features a “heavyweight” MDF structure, DC/AC generator board with speed control board (for automatic switching between 33 and 45rpm as well as additional 78rpm support)
In the X1, the motor drives an Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system.
The new design includes a Carbon/Alu sandwich tonearm, inspired by The Classic turntable.
This new 8.6” tonearm design is a one-piece, which obviously means no separate headshell.
Azimuth and VTA settings can be set plus you get a TPE-damped counterweight at the back.
The X1 is supplied as standard with a new Pro-Ject Pick-IT S2 MM cartridge (or optionally supplied without a cartridge), manufactured by Ortofon but voiced by the design team at Pro-Ject.
Also supplied in the box are a pair of Connect-IT E RCA cables; a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable.
The turntable is then positioned on three height-adjustable, decoupling Alu/TPE sandwich feet, an acrylic dust cover is also included with the turntable.
The X1 is available in three finishes; walnut wood veneer or black or white eight-layer gloss paint. Price is £699 (£599 without the cartridge).
Spanning 415 x 125 x 335mm, the turntable weighs in at 7kg.
