MC Century celebrate Ortofon’s 100 years

To celebrate the historical landmark of the company’s 100 anniversary, it has announced the MC Century limited edition cartridge 

The housing of the MC Century is made using Ortofon’s SLM technique. In production, fine particles of Titanium are welded together, layer-by-layer, to construct a single piece body. Using this technique, the density of the body can be precisely controlled, allowing for high internal damping. 

The specially polished Ortofon Replicant 100 stylus profile is mounted onto a diamond cantilever with a crystal structure.

The stylus and cantilever are connected into a new generator system, inspired by the MC Anna design, with an iron-cobalt alloy applied in some parts. The non-magnetic armature is strong and rigid. The armature design includes rubber absorbers in the suspension system and ultra-pure oxygen free copper (OFC).

Cosmetically, the shape of the MC Century shares similarities with the MC Rohmann with the Ortofon Anniversary logo on the side. The bottom cover has been constructed from proprietary Thermo-Plastic Elastomer (TPE) material. Price is £8,500.

Tracking Force is 2.3g while the weight of the cartridge is 15g.
