Polk Audio MagniFi MAX SR Sound Bar
4th December 2017
A “5.1 Surround Sound Bar” uses patented SDA Surround Sound Technology, Wireless Surround Speakers and Google Home
Polk’s MagniFi MAX SR uses the Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) digital surround technology. It’s also bundled with wireless surround speakers, which automatically connect with the sound bar. You can then customise volume and left/right balance in conjunction with the MagniFi MAX. You can also purchase the Polk SR1 wireless surround separately to upgrade the MagniFi MAX sound bar into a “full 5.1 surround system” (so Polk are seemingly admitting that there’s a difference, then).
DTS and Dolby Digital decoding are included too. You also get Voice Adjust Technology, which allows you to customise voice levels. Integrated Google Home technology means that you can connect with any Chromecast audio-enabled device as part of a multi-room or whole home audio solution. The sound bar is also equipped with Bluetooth. Finally, with Polk’s Smart Remote compatibility, the MagniFi MAX SR is controllable via popular IR TV remotes from Samsung, LG and Sony.
Featuring four 25mm by 76mm full-range drivers, two 19mm tweeters, one 25mm center channel driver and an included 203mm ported woofer, the sound bar is also outfitted with several preset EQ settings for Movies, Music and Sports. Night Effect EQ mode increases dialogue on the sound bar without touching the master volume.
The sound bar also includes three built-in Ultra HD 4K HDMI (HDCP 2.2) inputs, one HDMI (ARC) output, optical input for TV audio, AUX 3.5mm and Ethernet. You can also wall-mount (the SR1 features both built-in keyhole slots and threaded inserts). Finally, you can also play stereo content through the SR1 wireless speakers at the push of a button in addition to the sound bar.
The MagniFi MAX SR £699, MagniFi Max £599 and SR1 £129 wireless speakers will be available this month.
