A compact pair of powered speakers that, unusually for the genre, features a ribbon tweeter
Designed for those looking for a smaller footprint hifi system, near-field use or for those wanting to reduce the number of boxes you have to deal with in a typical hifi system, the A80 speakers include a horn-loaded ribbon tweeter plus a 114mm mid-bass unit with an aluminium alloy cone.
Finished in walnut and spanning 160 x 283 x 255mm, the speakers are powered by a TAS5754 Class D amplifier from Texas Instruments and was chosen because, says the company it was better able to drive the ribbon tweeter.
Internal cabling has been supplied by specialist outfit, Transparent.
There are, in fact, two amplifiers installed.
One, in bridged mode, to control both tweeters and a second, also in bridged mode to control both mid-bass units.
On the rear are a pair of RCA inputs, USB, optical, Bluetooth V.5 and a sub out plus volume and tone controls.
