There’s also improved damping around the  motor suspension, a so-called ‘precision’ belt drive system, height-adjustable metal feet, electronic speed change rocker switch (support for 33, 45 and 78 RPM playback), eight-layer hand-painted MDF chassis in Satin Black, you get a Connect-IT E phono cable included, there’s gold-plated RCA output connectors and a dust cover.

Well, the Debut PRO is the first Debut to feature Pro-Ject’s Carbon-Aluminium one-piece tonearm technology. You get an 8.6” tube, finished with a new CNC milled aluminium bearing block with “special” bearings, high-purity copper internal tonearm wiring, and a shielded junction box with gold-plated RCA output connectors.

The tonearm is supplied with the new Pick-IT PRO moving magnet cartridge, pre-installed and aligned.

As for that cartridge? This one was created alongside Ortofon based on the Ortofon 2M body with a sound that leans towards the traditional SPU designs with its lower compliance, lower capacitance and slightly higher output.

The MDF plinth features an AC drive motor, decoupled from the main chassis by a mounting plate with TPE-damped fixing points.

The mounting plate for the Debut Pro isolates the motor while still keeping it perfectly level with the sub-platter drive system. The turntable plinth also sits on three, height-adjustable metal feet with TPE-damping in a nickel-plated finish.

A sub-platter sits beneath the brand new heavy aluminium platter, which has a ring of TPE damping, held in place by an additional stabilising ring of aluminium. So this is a relatively high-mass platter, especially for the Debut range.

Price for the Debut Pro? £699 in the UK. You can buy it from September 2021 in the satin black finish, I mentioned.
