Blue Aura PS40 Speakers: a passive approach

13th August 2016

Cambridge-based Blue Aura has announced the ps40 loudspeaker system, the company’s s first passive speaker, and has been designed to be aesthetically and sonically matched with the recently launched v40 Blackline wireless valve amplifier. ps40s will be sold both with the v40 as a single entity, and also as stand-alone products.

The cabinets house a 25mm soft dome, composite diaphragm high frequency unit with horn shaped tweeter plate to improve dispersion. The driver used is a 114mm aluminium coned type with a long linear excursion motor. The crossover filter is a standard two-way second order type, using silicon steel inductors to reduce distortion.
