ATH-M50xBT2 Wireless Headphones

8th September 2021

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 headphones arrive with proprietary 45mm drivers plus an in-app EQ adjustment. The headphones also include an AK4331 DAC and dedicated internal headphone amp

In terms of Bluetooth codec support? You get SBC compatibility plus AAC and LDAC audio codecs.

There’s also the addition of dual mics and something called “beamforming” microphone technology, for clearer phone calls and with built-in Amazon Alexa voice assistant.

Oh, and sidetone circuitry that allows you to hear your voice in the headphones when making calls on most smartphones.

The mic can be muted with a press of a button. Control of volume/mute, music and access to the voice assistant are all possible through the buttons built into the left earcup.

You also get multipoint pairing. This lets you connect wirelessly to two Bluetooth devices at once, while Google Fast Pair allows you to pair the headphones with an Android smartphone or other device.

As for battery use? You’ll get 50 hours of continuous use on a full charge and up to 3 hours of use on a 10-minute rapid charge via the USB-C connection.

A 1.2m (3.9″) cable is included for optional wired use.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 is out now. Price is £180/€199/$199.
